After decades of being a hunt and peck typist I wanted to learn the gold standard method of typing using the middle keys as your home base. This game is fantastic at building the basics of key placement before moving to advanced skills. The game is highly polished visually and mini-games are easy to learn and can be repeated until mastery. The mini-games never overstay their welcome and make the process of mastering typing piece by piece very fun. I would highly recommend this as the best educational typing game on steam, this is perfect for the beginner or someone trying to learn better typing habits!
Bought this game to get better at typing and I think it’s working. I work as a tech writer and it’s amazing that I have made it this far as an extremely slow typer who doesn’t use the home row. Play it 5 minutes a day or while listening to a podcast and you’ll become a better typer. Maybe after I beat this, I’ll try “Typing of the Dead.” Look at me, I’m making this review with the skills I learned in this game! It’s a fun, easy way to learn to type for all ages. It has some good practice challenges to help you improve typing daily. Definitely worth the price if you’re looking to learn and practice typing.
Update Day 2: In order to unlock some lessons and make more progress you have to get crowns and in order to get crowns you have to get perfects. It’s a little tough but I get the point, it’s trying to force me to practice but instead just frustrate me and make me feel bad for making a mistake. It’s made worse by not having a retry button on the menu, you have to exit then restart it. A quick retry or restart stage button would be nice. I’ve been forcing me to play the whole stage when I mess up though for the practice. One thing I’m noticing is as I type this chicken peck my brain keeps telling me this is wrong and I’m making more typos that before, so the game is doing a good job of forcing good habits. I’d also like a mode where I can play specific minigames in order to get more practice in them, like I think whack a mole really helps with teaching me hand placement and memory.
