Awesome concept. Awful execution. Any other developer handling this probably could’ve done something really interesting with a turn-based John Wick game but this one falls flat on all measures. It’s ugly to look at, with John looking like he has never had a “leg-day” in his life, the tiles are isometric so you constantly zigzag around the map making John look like he had one too many on the house cocktails at the continental before getting to work and the AI is so unforgiving that deviating outside of standing in a spot, shooting enemies who approach, taking their gun, and repeating until everyone is dead is always punished.
There are about 7 levels in the game with 5+ stages per level. Stages are like tiny areas to traverse and completing one is a checkpoint. It can take 5-10 minutes to complete a stage and I spent 6 hours playing the game before I reached the end. If the stages were padded out more,I would have been fatigued. I respect games when they have a limited scope and execute it well (enough), so the game time worked for me. If you want something with more meat, this isn’t that.
