Elemental Survivors is a “Survivors” style game where you collect weapons, items, and in this game characters, defeat hordes of enemies as they approach, collect experience to level up those weapons, items, and characters in order to defeat even stronger waves of enemies.
I particularly like this game additional power up slot being the characters you can unlock. In most survivor style games, you pick a character at the start and the rest have no purpose to your game play. However, in Elemental Survivors, characters you are not using can be recruited in town as party members. You can consider this as another item type, and leveling them up will bestow their powers to you. This means that the characters you have unlocked also play a role in your potential power in game.
Characaters and weapons are split into four types: Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Spirit. There is also a Vitality and Luck stat which is not used as a weapon/character’s primary stat. While I like the approach to having statistics, I’m not sure if they’re fully realized in a good way. To begin, it is uncertain what statistics do on their own. It is stated in game that Dexterity can improve movement speed, but none of the other stats are explained that I could find, if they do anything on their own at all. In addition, because of the split, many items that can be acquired will only work on weapons of a particular stat (say Increases Damage of STR-based weapons for example).
