As for Linux users: Instead of spending approx 5 seconds trying to run it even though it officially says windows only for now and then downvote it to hell because “Uh I’m so relevant”…read the forum guide on how to work around the issues for now. Not sure how you can act so entitled about it when it’s even right on the page that it’s currently not officially supported to run on Linux.
Alright, I’ve now finally played FL for a 100 registered hours. The blink of an eye, considering how vast this game really is and it’s barely enough to leave an honest review about it. I can only speak from experience with comparisons to X3: Terran Conflict, so here it is. I elaborate on the Diplomats, Notoriety has switched from a static “we can all be friends” system to a more dynamic approach. Becoming friends with one faction means you’ll accrue negative notoriety with their enemies. It is literally impossible to be on friendly terms with all of the factions when you play for long enough. There is a way around this by using a relatively simple script/mod, but this will disable Steam Achievements (but not the newly added in-game achievements of the same name). I’m personally not a fan / not ready for a real playthrough with Dynamic Notoriety turned on, so I’m playing without.
