Mixed feelings about this one. I wouldn’t slap a negative review but I’m not sure if I can truly recommend it either. See, the challenge here is to see several moves in advance when placing a bridge (to see whether or not it would contradict the puzzle). In about half the puzzles, the number of moves you have to see in advance is zero. That means you simply do 100% valid moves one bridge at a time (similar to nonograms or early hexcells) and the puzzle sort of just solves itself.
However, the other half of the puzzles cannot be solved that way. You end up having to think “okay, let’s put exactly one bridge here” and see what happens. The game is quite poorly equipped with its backtracking capabilities, has no markup functionality, and is visually buggy when using undo. For most of these puzzles I end up trying one possibility at random, coming to a contradiction ten moves later, and then just skipping to the next random puzzle because I can’t be freaking bothered. It’s really not fun to backtrack and try to crack it – rolling for a simpler puzzle is a lot more efficient.
The game has a total of 5,000 puzzles which were obviously generated randomly. For 100% achievements you are required to solve half of them. 60+ hours into the game and all achievements obtained I feel like I did not get any better at this game at all. I grasped all concepts within the first hour and the rest of it was the same monotonous grind. I guess it’s a decent game if you’re depressed and trying to kill time instead of yourself.
