Overview Virago:

Virago is a 2D adventure survival game set in a sprawling, interconnected world with black and white graphics. As Virago, your mission is to explore this gloomy town, wending your way past the horrible citizens and making it out alive. The path forward isn’t always clear, and dangerous monsters may pursue you persistently and effortlessly, but if you keep going, discovering new paths and acquiring strong new weapons and skills, the town will open up to you, and you will eventually conquer it. The world Virago will be brought to life in vivid, moody detail, its bizarre and terrifying creatures each animated by hand in a traditional 2D style. The look of Virago is reminiscent of a lovingly crafted 2D animated movie. Vibrant characters and creatures and detailed environments will draw you deep into the world.

Each new place you’ll discover in your mission is strange, also with new creatures to meet. We want to make sure the world of virago is one worth exploring. My favorite level so far is the level where you constantly have to turn back while turning on your flashlight to avoid the spider chasing you, it feels as if the developer wants us to understand her fear of always having to run and look her back because of stalkers but instead they made it in a more subtle way.

I like the slow attacks and always constantly not knowing where an object or enemy might appear, i don’t see it as a flaw but as a big part of the game because it really shows the anxiety the developer tries to show. For example in a part of the game you attack a boss but he always don’t seem to die, also seeing as bosses don’t have health bars made it even more difficult but added more to the story. I felt like giving up many times, but i constantly kept trying and eventually i beat the bosses and felt so much relief.
