Vampire Survivors is a time survival game with minimalistic gameplay and roguelite elements. There’s no place where to hide, all you can do is try to survive a cursed night and get as much gold as possible for the next survivor, before Death inevitably puts an end to your struggles. A great “let me just play one more run” game. You have a bunch of different weapons, characters, modifiers, upgrades and levels you can try out which keeps it fresh for a long time.
The great reviews it has are very much justified. It is actually that fun and I don’t think there is many games out there where you can get such a good value for your money out of them like with this one. The game has grown on me like a week-old beard and that was rather surprising since I rarely indulge into the casual spectrum of independent gaming on Steam. Nevermind playing anything on a mobile platform since I barely recognize most of those “entertainment apps” as being proper games worthy of my undivided attention.

And yet here we are. Developed and published by poncle, Vampire Survivors is a stellar Steam debut with future ports for Android and iOS. There will be no escaping, though I welcome such titles as a much needed break from any other genre one might “default” towards prolonged sessions. Almost making me revise my previously mentioned stance on the majority of casual experiences. The story will conjure itself as you keep playing, pushing yourself in regards to that titular survival which is entirely dependent on a “rinse and repeat” type of progression. The Dark Souls pathos has transpired well into many other subgenres. One defeat too many, might still lead towards a well deserved victory once the necessary lessons have been applied.
