This is just an incredibly well made game, the absolute pinnacle of the twin stick shooter genre. These days, twin stick shooters are going roguelite with permanent upgrades leading to the game getting easier the more you play it – it’s not a trend I’m completely opposed to, Synthetik is a magnificent game – but it does make the work of balancing the game easier for the creator and it locks a large amount of gameplay mechanics from a fresh player. Nex Machina is having none of that, going full old school arcade,
everything unlocked from the start. No random level generation as well, every arena is designed by someone who knows the genre, the progression of difficulty is great and the level design transitions are wonderful. It really saddens me that I’m the only person left on Earth who’s a bad enough dude to appreciate this work of art and that its developers.
