A perfect little prison crafting simulator, it’s really grindy though. No matter, I like the grind, I still love this game, even in 2021! There’s 4 prisons to complete and escape from, but then there are also two other game modes. In boss mode you pick any prison, the amount of days (20-30-40) and your starting crafting item (all the items in the first prison) then you hop in. When you do jobs in this game mode you get skill cards, you can then use them to get other items to craft, even the ones that you couldn’t craft in your current prison in the original 4 prisons. Then there’s arcade mode where you flip a switch (it puts you in a random prison) and items pop out, you have a time limit, you need to craft as many items as you can and put them in a box behind you to get points, it will also increase your time by a bit.
It’s fun! I had a blast playing this, the unique method of crafting was very interesting and is a great example of how many different ways you can approach gameplay in VR. You start with enough resources to make 4 cigarettes and work your way up from there. As with most VR games, the content is very light for the price, but Prison Boss VR has more to do than other VR titles of similar price. The problem mostly lies in the tedium and repetitiveness the game eventually devolves into, so you can only play it for short bursts.
Your challenge is to assemble contraband items, like cigarettes and rope, which you can then sell to your dealer. Doing so will earn you more resources to assemble more things, eventually earning you a mighty hammer that you can use to break out of jail. The game is split into 2 modes, daytime and nighttime. Daytime is when your resource dealer comes to your cell and you can buy supplies. Nighttime is the time to assemble the contraband items. Guards are constantly patrolling at night and you definitely don’t want them to catch you making things, so you’ll have to be quick to hide everything when they pass by.
