I’ve played both playtests before and now that the game came out I bought it. Well the playtest was less buggy than the current version, so unless they patch a few like getting stuck on the golden sheep map which means you can only alt f4 out meaning you lost progress until then I will give a negative review and will only change it if I can beat the game without running into game breaking bugs. I really wanted to like this game, it is a mix of Plants vs Zombies style “Tower Defense” and action combat. What I really enjoyed was how you can simultaneously put up defenses and move your character while using character skills. In the first 30 minutes it became clear to me that the game had a lot of potential to really push the player later on by forcing you to very quickly juggle utilizing your characters and putting up on the fly defenses.
I’m giving this a thumbs down because I managed to get soft locked half a dozen times in less than hour. I played on controller so I do not know if that was a factor. After you complete a mission you are presented with a list of items you got. If you click any of these items thats an immediate soft lock and restart. Throughout the first half dozen missions you will be presented with various parts of the tutorial. I found that if you accidentally click on any menu aside from the one you’re being directed to for the tutorial, this will also result in a soft lock.
