Swimmer Admiration I happened to play this game at a point in my life where I was questioning a lot of things. Kentucky Route Zero takes these questions and drives them through your skull. What does it mean to be home? What does it mean to belong? What does it feel like to be important to someone? Kentucky Route Zero is unapologetic in its delivery. It forces you to bask in its environments and atmospheres,
with each pause more pregnant than the last. Every second finds a meaning to someone somewhere, and I’m sure that when I revisit this game, I’ll be picking up things in a very different way and it will hit home just as hard. I guess there isn’t really a way to see if you will conect with the game more than I do without playing it, so I say go for it. Just keep in mind this is not an easy ride.
However, I’m sad to say that I find it too complex for me. Too abstract. I fail to get into the story, to empathize or care about the characters, to even understand it’s plot and the intent behind it. Maybe I’m too dumb, too inattentive (or a little bit of both) to fully appreciate it. I’m currently playing through chapter III, and I find myself really wanting to understand the game and lacking the brains to do so at the same time, which results in me not being as invested as I should, struggling to progress.
