This game RIPS so hard and really embodies the idea of a “combat puzzle” game. Most rooms require you to evaluate the situation and find the correct plan of action, and then execute that plan of action with decent window in-between each action. Choosing which enemy to kill first, which barrels to shoot, whether or not you should stealth a section, the game has plenty of variety in approaching situations and its amazing. Some of the situations do offer quite a bit of challenge, especially the boss fights. That’s just the gameplay though, the small segments in-between each killing floor really flesh this game out even further. The dialogue options you are given when speaking with the “therapist”, the small talk you can make with the receptionist.
it’s not necessary at all but the fact that it’s there elevates the series tremendously. The story is also fantastic, with you questioning “What the is going on?” quite often. I got very invested in the story and I eagerly await the DLC. The 2D art style is also fantastic. The blood and gore in the scenes look great. My only detractor from the game would be that the stealth sections are kind of a drag if you choose that route. Dying requires you to keep doing them over again and waiting, but you do always have the option of going weapons loud. It’s just you’ll have to deal with the potential story consequences later.
