Monster Slayers is a card game with a dungeon crawler theme and roguelike elements, such as permanent death and procedural generation. However, the game also has a progression system in which it’s possible to unlock upgrades for future runs. One of these upgrades is the option to have two more tries before the run is over, so the game becomes a bit more forgiving.
The gameplay consists of exploring dungeons to find the boss of that area, defeat it, and proceed. During the adventure it’s possible to choose two support characters (called companion”), who offer special abilities that can be used from time to time. Also, you’ll need to defeat monsters, make deals on altars that offers a great benefit at the cost of a great loss, eventually choose some free extra cards from other characters, buy items and gear, sometimes find a healer who can also delete some of unwanted cards from your deck and rest under the bonfire in the best Dark Souls style.
