Retro game fans rejoice! NEOGEO POCKET COLOR SELECTION VOL.1 Steam Edition is SNK’s legendary handheld console dream collection, containing 10 handheld defining classics, is coming to Steam! NEOGEO Pocket Color Selection Vol. 1 is the first offering on PC of a collection of games from one of the more obscure but still highly praised handhelds from the late 90’s to early 00’s. This collection first came out on the Nintendo Switch, and the move to PC has brought 1 major change in the line up. Both a good thing, and a bad thing depending on how you look at it.
To get the bad thing out of the way, this version loses SNK vs. CAPCOM: Match of the Millennium, which is easily one of the best NGPC games ever. The good thing though is that left us open to get 1 exclusive game which is not in the Switch version in the form of the rare gem, Crush Roller. Now you’re probably thinking this does not sound fair. It all depends on how you look at it I suppose. If you only want SNK vs. CAPCOM the nice thing is you can actually buy it on Steam by itself. So it’s not a complete loss. And Crush Roller is actually not a bad game. So for me personally, I think the trade off was worth it, considering I can still play the omitted game as a separate game on Steam. And it’s decently priced too.

NGPC Color Selection offers 10 games. And if you’re a fan of SNK, that probably means you like fighting games. And This collection is stacked. 5 out of 10 of the titles are fighting games with representations from Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, King of Fighters and more. And if you’ve ever had the joy of playing a fighting game on the NGP, then you know that despite only 2 buttons, SNK knew what they were doing. The other 5 games are a mix of action, sports and arcade, with 2 metal slug games, big tournament golf.
