Color Jumper is a fun, challenging, and fast-paced 2D platformer. A truly exceptional first game from an awesome indie developer! The simple controls are responsive, and produce quick fluid movements using either keyboard or controller. Gameplay mechanics are gently introduced through the first two-thirds of the main 100 levels. There is increasing complexity and some challenges sprinkled throughout, so don’t be alarmed if even some of the early levels seem difficult. If you get stuck and want to try another level, you get 5 tokens that let you skip a level (and beat it later to regain the token).
The graphics may appear somewhat simplistic and possibly dull at first. This is deliberate and actually helps focus your attention on precise movement rather than get distracted by unnecessary details and special effects. The choice of colors and shapes creates a nice and coherent atmosphere for the game. Audio complements the visuals – satisfying melodic sound effects provide feedback for each action, while a mix of chill and upbeat music adapts to the intensity of your playthrough.
After many days of playing Color Jumper, I still enjoy coming back trying to fully complete all the levels, and replay those I’ve already beaten. I first played the demo in late 2016, and participated in the beta testing for the full game. It’s great to see the final result with some improvements based on feedback from myself and others.
