This is the impatient version of of the first game, which has pros and cons. First of all, if you liked the first game, duh – get this. Why are you even reading reviews? That being said, there was something fun about how slow the first game was. In a way it felt like an ant farm and almost had an animal crossing feeling to it, except the game truly does go on with or without you. This game is more of a fast food version of that, which is frankly delicious.
If you somehow ended up here without knowing the first game, this is a hardcore programming game. If you are not a professional that can setup your own environment, and then navigate a crazy ass poorly documented API, this will not teach you or hold your hand in any way. If you are expecting this to be a novel context to learn in, you will not find much. Personally, I think this is a huge missed opportunity, as someone who has been an RTS fan for much longer than I have been a programmer. I am forgiving it for now, because I understand the idea of wanting someone to actually focus on one arena, before advancing to the next one… this is just a really stupid implementation of that idea.
