I was very skeptical of the remaster. I did so many A/B comparisons of pictures and videos. I initially deemed these remastered changes to be silly, unnecessary, too subtle, and not big enough of a deal to warrant a remaster. I was worried that I’d play it, hate it, and would feel as though I wasted my money. I am happy to say that it is not the case here. I’ve had Youtube open with a full no commentary gameplay video of the original version up, and after I finish playing a scene in the remastered version, I’ll quickly tab out while it’s still fresh on my mind and will re-watch the same scene in the original gameplay.
Faces, facial expressions, textures, eyes, skin, etc. all seem much more organic and fleshed out. I’ve been playing for a few hours now and I’m enjoying it very much. Yes, the differences are subtle, but in my opinion they’re much less subtle than I originally believed them to be based off of my A/B comparisons of promo photos and short promo videos. The facial structure in the faces has been very much improved in the remaster. Eyes also look like they have much more depth and “soul” to them, if you will. Rachel Amber’s eyes especially look more vibrant and less hollow. The lip movements as the characters speak also is very fluid and more organic.
