Game is enjoyable… most negative reviews are from players who were unable to understand game mechanics – like raising terror levels by sending drugs through sea ports / checkpoints without sending them through a factory to package them with other items like vegetables first. That said, I do have some complaints about the game – like how the AI cartels don’t actually play the game, they don’t interact with each other, they don’t build production lines, they just sit there and wait to either 1) trade with the player, 2) join the player, or 3) attack the player. That part of the game detracts a LOT from how amazing the game could be… that said, I still find it enjoyable.
The pause button (spacebar) and fast forward buttons (1,2,3 numerical keys) are gonna be your best friend. pausing the game as soon as you begin either a new story, sandbox, or survival mode is a must to get your bearings and to plan out where you will be building your facilities. Since you can still interact with the map and most features while the game itself is paused, this allows you to get most of your building placed before any events may pop up.
When you first enter the game and then pause the game, THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO is select your neighbor’s territory specifically the RED territory is what you want to focus on as that will be where enemy gangs will launch attacks from. In those red territory(s) you need to click on the city for each of the red regions and “talk” with the leaders in those cities (the GOAL is to INCREASE LOYALTY) as the higher the loyalty; decreases the chance to be attacked by those rival organizations. Doing this first will completely remove the possibility of being attacked early/ or potentially at all in the game. There is a cooldown to when you can talk with them again.
