Become immersed in a visually stunning hand-painted world with lush, vivid environments for you to experience. What a charming little game! It’s got a wonderful aesthetic and rock solid gameplay. Movement can feel a bit floaty at times, but it’s a rewarding Metroidvania with a lot to recommend.
The core understanding of gameplay design honestly rivals Hollow Knight in terms of the sheer strength of the fundamentals. Levels are laid out intuitively, hazards are well signposted, and exploration is subtly encouraged through the structure of the world, and rewarded. The combat also has a firm grasp on what makes a 2D game like this fun. It even has a feature which I will trumpet to the stars, one I’ve never seen in any similar game: your sword attack is very fast, and pushes the player character forward just a bit with each swing.
