Hammerwatch II Direct Download:
The Chronicles Edition includes the full game, Hammerwatch Anniversary Edition, and the Hammerwatch II anniversary pack DLC. Hammerwatch 2 basically added more RPG mechanics on top of Hammerwatch 1’s core gameplay, but it focuses on a more open world design. You go around, you kill things, you get some loot, and continue on with the story after you finish the current part. As someone who enjoyed the relatively simple hack and slash nature of Hammerwatch, I can appreciate them adding some more depth and exploration to it, while keeping the core gameplay of ‘Cut through hordes of monsters. I’m extremely hyped to see what mods are created with the very in depth modding tools. Even for people on the fence about this game, I would say to keep an eye out on what crazy mods get.
On top of that, the mod tools are pretty darn robust and capable of a lot, as we’ve been shown via the preview showing off entirely new games made in Hammerwatch 2, like a Jump King clone. Though I’m hoping we see some good new campaigns. As someone who tested this game, I can say the devs did a good job of communicating with the community and involving us in the development process. And personally I’ve been enjoying it, but a few things need to be explained I think, because people seem to be coming into this with expectations on what this game is, when it’s not those things.
