I didn’t need that much time in this game to see the major missing function in this steam version. No ability to set heights or even more important, set the angle of your mortar. It’s straight up. Period. There’s really no reference scale either. So, when placing buildings, you don’t know what the scale of any given firework will be! There should be a silhouette of a person/car/and maybe a small ground shower firework to give you the feel of where to place things. It makes no sense right now. The size of the fireworks is so random from one to the other. Nothing I can’t live with. And, maybe over time I’ll understand how to set a show up better.
Overall, it’s pretty cool and worth it I’m sure for most. The effects design in FWsim is truly awesome, but the complexity might be a little bit of a turn off to some. You may want to hold out for the CREATIVE VERSION found on the website and skip steam version if you really want more options. If you are like me, and LOVE fireworks, I think I’d rather have put my $20 odd dollars towards Creative version. It’s a LOT more money at $99.00, but honestly, if I’m going to invest my time into learning this sim, I want the full set of tools. The pro version is insane, $1000.00. Hell No to that. $100? Maybe. A reason that you might want to buy the full version from the website, rather than steam is, the full version supports online download of hundreds if not thousands of user created fireworks! Not so with Steam. Do be aware of this. Dev states that maybe one day a workshop will be setup on Steam. Too bad I didn’t know earlier today. Another reason I’d just have bought this on the website. 😉 Oh well. I still love the game!
