Elisa Dragon Hunter is an emotional action adventure in a dark fantasy setting. You play as a brave dragon hunter – Eliza. Your goal is to make your way through the cursed, evil-inhabited lands to find the last dragon and face him in an epic battle. Customize Eliza’s appearance, choose one of two options for weapons and armor, kill evil spirits to gain experience and increase your health. The combat system, in fact, consists of only three elements: sword strikes, blocking enemy attacks with the help of a shield and rolling.
Use all this, and you can easily deal with enemies. It starts as just another bright and save-the-world story, which was not very exciting for me. But things got interesting somewhere in the middle, when something unexpected happens. Then it finally captured my interest. I cannot praise the gameplay, because some moments were pretty frustrating and tedious. But the gameplay is not that important here.
The main feature is the story, characters and of course, music. There are a lot of different musical tracks in here, and you can “create” you own melodies by singing. But only if you have some musical knowledge. Sadly I don’t, but for more musical inclined people this game will be even more worthy. This is a spiritually significant game about the importance of compassion in the face of seemingly impossible adversity,
told in a joyful manner, and capable of being played by a young child. I don’t think I’ve genuinely enjoyed a game as much as playing this with my daughter. I’d compare playing this game to the Buddhist meditation practice of tonglen, in which you take in the pain of others and release relief to train compassion. It also contains the answers to “why” this is important. I can’t recommend this game enough! It filled me with joy and sadness. It’s more of an experience than a traditional ‘game’ but if you’re open to emotional storytelling, It’s a must buy.
