Just like Yakuza 0, this is an amazing game for starters to the Yakuza franchise. Although this game makes references to characters and events that only make sense to long time players, the isolated story without any knowledge of the other games is still amazing. The JRPG gameplay is addicting to someone like me, making this game a pleasant switch from the action game style the franchise used to have. I would highly recommend giving it a shot if this is your first Yakuza. If you’ve played the others, you’re already going to play this.
This game is the epitome of what happens if you combine a polished turn-based fighting game with amazing characters and a massive dose of melodrama. This game easily made me feel so much for the characters. I usually don’t like one or two in shallow ways, but all the characters here captured my heart like no other and made me feel like they were my friends and family, too. I was so sad to see it all end

When Y7 was new, people were iffy about the game direction in the series, because, when you think of “Yakuza” you think of 3 things: a brawler-type game, an enticing story, and you play as Kazuma Kiryu. This game is a full-blown RPG with a new protagonist and it was very well done. I played this for a month straight, ignoring the other games I bought in my library at the time I purchased this until I finished it, and it was well-worth it.
