This is a fun ring racer. However, its content is very limited currently in Early Access. It only has asynchronous multiplayer and there are currently 11 racing tracks, along with a tutorial. There is no single player campaign and you do need to place in the top 3 to unlock the next racing track (which can be difficult depending on who you are grouped with). It took me approximately 2 hours to race each track at least once. I did have to race a few tracks more than a few times to get in the top 3.
You navigate your racer by using motion control movements. You basically press grip and make movements that correspond to spinning on your axis, or turning on your x axis, or moving up or down on your y axis. These controls do take a while to get used to. They are obviously not as precise as a gamepad or HOTAS, but you do get used to them. This is an arcade racer, it’s not a sim racer. However, you still need to slow down going around curves and it is an easy game to start racing, but one that is challenging to master.
Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 fps. I only experienced one crash during my playtime, but I don’t know if that was Oculus’ fault or this game. I had fun. However, this wasn’t the best racer I have ever played in VR (I won’t list my favorite racing games in VR). The closest comparison to this game is JetBorne Racing and I definitely enjoyed JetBorne Racing more. However, I think this game is more approachable. It’s a solid racing experience. My biggest criticism is that this game needs more content. It would be great if it had a single player campaign and / or more racing tracks / modes.
