In the beginning chores and laundry are your primary source of income, but you can buy the book to reduce the frequency of chores and just ignore the laundry once you start to really get the arcade going. Completing the set of goals for each machine will make a huge difference in how much they pull in; between 2-4 times as much in my experience. When you get to the point that you are having to empty the hoppers multiple times per day, the assistant manager is another really nice quality of life upgrade. Don’t bother with the book that makes machines more reliable until later in the game when you will sometimes have 3 machines break down every hour.
