O jogo tinha potencial… é uma sequência direta da história em Trine 2 com um formato 3D ao invés de 2.5D. Tem um enredo legal, gráficos, dublagem e trilha sonora bons, algumas frustrações com a “física” assim como os anteriores, dublagem nacional, mas… é um jogo incompleto. Além de faltar algumas mecânicas dos anteriores (como evolução dos personagens), o enredo não é concluído. Existe um “último chefe” que conclui o primeiro arco da história, mas o jogo finaliza após derrotá-lo. The game presents itself on a gameboard like environment, although it is still a linear game and the levels are locked behind certain amounts of collecting the yellow shiny zeldaesque Trine objects which are scattered throughout the levels. In theory if you collect 100% of the objects in a mission you will be able to progress to the next step of the story, but in practice you will have to do side missions to collect enought tokens to progress. These side missions are themed after every of the three heroes and their (mis)adventures and tell their shenanigans in a jungle ruin, in a mine, in the wizard academy or/and in their dreams.
