AIKAGI” is a visual novel. More specifically, it is a kinetic novel, without any branching routes. During the last winter of his student days, Sunohara Nozomu finds himself at his wits’ end. His parents told him to move out on his own to learn how to become more independent, but he’s having trouble finding a place that feels like home, not to mention he’s never even cooked for himself! That’s when his childhood friend, Takanashi Shiori, gives the conflicted Nozomu a shocking request. Um… W-Won’t you come and live with me!?” At first Nozomu isn’t sure if living with someone will really help him become “independent,” but Shiori convinces his parents to let him live with her, and before he can give it much thought, everything has been arranged. They agree to live together for one month so that Nozomu can learn the ropes of living alone.
A cute story about 2 awkward individuals who have known each other for so long learning to love and recognize their charm though the mean of living together. It’s surprising that there isn’t any comedy in this story and it’s 100% pure romance. If you want an interesting story, this is not for you; but on the other hand, if you like to have something relaxing to read after a busy day then you’re gonna love Aikagi As far as the general tone of the game goes, it reminds me of Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai, but to simply put, the writing is just night and day between the two. It’s not like Hoshi Ori is super interesting or anything (considering the genre), but the characters are a lot more unique, and we get a deeper look at their personalities, we learn new things about them and I could go on. None of that here. I very hesitantly recommend the game, because there’s really nothing wrong with it. It’s not bad. But you can find plenty of better ones. Get it if you really want to, it’s relaxing and cute, but not much else.
