It took a little bit of getting used to, but it grew on me as I came to realize that the game was more about taking precise shots and dodging around enemies than in twitch gunplay.

It was a different type of fun than what I was expecting and it made the first few stages. a little uncomfortable as I learned to move and jump in what felt like zero gravity. I guess it made sense for space, though The screen effects do an excellent job of emulating the effects of the past tech without all of the flaws that normally came with them. The subtleties of raster resolution that accurately homage the pixel detail of action coin-op arcades of the nineties to the scan-line effects that render them on screen, the skips between frames and animation genuinely sell this deceptive notion.
